No DJ experience is necessary for this club, but an open mind and musical curiosity would be fantastic!
What does it take to be a good DJ? What do you need to know about the hardware, the music, the technique, and the showmanship? For this club, Chris, an experienced DJ who is so excited about this sharing, will bring in the basic equipment and give you a crash course in the art of being a DJ! And you will try it out for yourself!
We're going to cover a lot in this club: Native instruments, Traktor Kontrol hardware and software demos, beatmatching and syncing, MPC pads, isolating samples, and sound effects. If a lot of those terms mean nothing to you now, don't worry, you'll get to know them deeply in this club. We'll also talk about the less technical and arguably more important parts of being a DJ, like the music choices and the ability to read the crowd and drop the right tracks and beats at the right moment. We'll talk about that special something that allows some DJs to truly perform, engage the people, and feed off of and build the energy.
